According to Babatunde Ogala, SAN, who is the coordinator of the Tinubu presidential legal team, Prof. Joash Amupitan was not a member of the legal team that defended President Bola Tinubu in the electoral tribunal. Amupitan was recently named head of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
That Amupitan was not one of the 123 attorneys who had gathered to defend Tinubu before the tribunal was clarified in Friday’s statement by Ogala.
He asked the people spreading the rumour to prove that Amupitan was part of Tinubu’s legal team.

This is not an attempt at retaliation; rather, it is an act of service to the truth and the public interest on my part as the former coordinator of that legal team to clarify the situation and put the minds of any decent Nigerians at ease that these falsehoods may have inspired.
Professor Amupitan SAN was never a part of Tinubu’s presidential legal team; that much is certain.
Out of more than 123 lawyers officially hired for the job, sixty (60) were esteemed Senior Advocates of Nigeria, however his name is noticeably absent.
“Throughout the whole process, he was never asked for or provided professional advice, opinion, or assistance.
Therefore, I dare anyone spreading this myth to provide proof otherwise. To back up this claim, he added that anybody may request Certified True Copies of all legal documents filed by the president-elect (while he was in office) to verify its veracity.
