Information on the 47 Federal Unity Colleges that the federal government closed due to the nation’s worsening security situation has surfaced.
According to GISTCON, the Federal Government announced the closure of Unity Colleges in a notice sent to all principals by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Secondary Education, Office of the Minister of Education.
This comes after numerous pupils were abducted in recent attacks on schools in the states of Kebbi and Niger.

The notice stated, in part: “The Honourable Minister of Education has approved the immediate closure of 47 federal unity colleges in response to the recent security challenges in certain parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breach.”

The notice further stated that the shutdown is effective immediately.
