All of the South-East governors are behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign in 2027, according to David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State and current minister of works.
Ebonyi 1st Choice News Media (@peopleofebonyi_) posted the footage to Instagram on Sunday, where Umahi made the comments.
He was adamant that, thanks to his work as governor and minister, he should take front stage when the president moves to the South-East.

“Every governor in the South-East is on board with the president’s agenda for 2027, and there isn’t a single governor in the South-East who isn’t.” States are governed by governors. We are convinced that we will write our history because you have witnessed Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, the governor’s actions, Abia, and Imo.
Additionally, Umahi challenged those who doubted his role in the political destiny of the South-East.
I have challenged everybody who disagrees with me to a debate, and I believe I should be in the forefront when the presidency visits the South-East. From this state, I made something. Says he was “used” by God to accomplish it.
When compared to others in the area, he insists his record stands out.
What you have accomplished for the Southeast is comparable to what other governors have done on occasion.
To improve the situation in the South-East, I pounded my chest and shouted, ‘Listen, God has used me, President Tinubu has used me.’ According to him, it has been a while since we had it this good.
In the run-up to the region’s presidential election, Umahi cautioned against emotional decisions.
“Our people should re-engage,” is my recommendation. Emotions won’t get us elected president. It is imperative that we re-engage and lend assistance to other places. Plus, no one can halt it when the time comes. It will find us. “And by that point, who knows if it will be the man flanking the honourable minister,” he reiterated.
