President Bola Tinubu has praised the legacy of the late Michael Okpara, the former premier of the old Eastern region, claiming that he was a brilliant leader who brought his people together.
This was said by the President on Friday in Umuahia during the commissioning of the Michael Okpara auditorium, which Governor Alex Otti had retrofitted.
According to Tinubu, who was represented by David Umahi, the Minister of Works, Okpara was a brilliant leader who helped his people.

He encouraged South Easterners to follow in the former Premier’s footsteps by playing the kind of politics he did.
“I’m glad he’s being honoured today because this building is being renovated and will be used in his honour,” he remarked.
Before refurbishing the Michael Okpara auditorium, Governor Alex Otti said earlier in his speech that his administration found it in a state of disrepair when he came office.
