Reasons Napoli turned down PSG’s €200 million offer for Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia
Based on a promise given to head coach Antonio Conte, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis explained why he turned down PSG’s €200 million offer for Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as reported by XANDERTECH Sports Extra.
According to De Laurentiis’s interview with Corriere della Sera, PSG made a package offer of almost €200 million for the two players, but he refused to sell them after promising Antonio Conte that he would retain them on staff.

But I didn’t want to break my promise to Conte and keep him, so I did. It was planned to purchase Gyokeres using such funds.
According to Napoli’s head coach, Kvaratskhelia’s agency threatened to invoke Article 17 in order to force Kvaratskhelia’s January departure to PSG for €75 million.
“His agent was threatening to use Article 17,” De Laurentiis explained, explaining why he had to be fired.
We moved swiftly to arrange a contract extension with the Georgian, boosting his wages and offering him a substantial sum, following his outstanding debut season. His agent, Mamuka Jugeli, however, had different intentions for both the player and himself.
The president made it public that Kvaratskhelia’s agent lied about unfulfilled promises made by Cristiano Giuntoli, the former sporting director, and continued to stall throughout negotiations in Germany during the Euros.
With the help of Osimhen and Kvaratskhelia, Napoli won the Serie A championship in 2022–23, their first in 33 years. The league’s leading scorer that season was a striker from Nigeria, while the most valuable player was a winger from Georgia.
Osimhen finished a permanent transfer to Galatasaray for the same amount following a loan term, and Kvaratskhelia joined PSG for €75 million.
