On Tuesday, Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of the state and senator representing Ogun East, and Kunle Folarin, one of his followers, were suspended from the All Progressives Congress, Ogun State chapter.
Their suspension was based on accusations of anti-party behaviour.
To the media, this information was revealed on Tuesday by Nuberu Olufemi, director of publicity for the ruling party’s state branch.

The statement claims that Chief Yemi Sanusi, the state chairman, met with members of the APC from Ward 4 and Ward 6 in Sagamu Local Government Area on Tuesday and decided to suspend Daniel and Folarin, respectively.
After reviewing the reports of the investigation and disciplinary committees of Ward 4 and Ward 6, which were established to investigate claims of wrongdoing and anti-party actions against the two, their suspension was announced.
Ward 4, Sagamu Local Government established a disciplinary committee to investigate allegations of misbehaviour by Senator Gbenga Daniel, which may have involved anti-party activities, according to the statement.
Ward 6, Sagamu Local Government also established a disciplinary committee in response to claims that Hon. Kunle Folarin engaged in anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
The committee subsequently sent letters to the members who were under investigation, inviting them to disciplinary hearings where they could defend themselves, submit evidence, and ask for the party’s pardon.
Nevertheless, neither member responded in writing to the invitations sent their way, neither offered a written defence, and neither showed up for the disciplinary hearings where they were supposed to do so.
“Despite their strange and intentional absence, the committees proceeded with their scheduled deliberations, listened to the witnesses who were there, reviewed the documentary evidence that was at their disposal, and finally reached a decision on the claims.
Another piece of information that was brought to the attention of the committees was the fact that the individuals being investigated had been threatening party members’ cooperation and harassing them.
They were also accused of trying to get party members to drop the petitions that were filed against them by utilising their positions within the party.
In light of this new information, the committees decided to prevent the members under investigation from interfering with the disciplinary process and to ensure its integrity. The committees deliberated and ultimately decided to suspend the members indefinitely pending the results of the investigation.
The state chairman was notified of the indefinite suspension letters so that the State Working Committee may review and approve them. The members’ attempts to coerce other party members into withdrawing petitions against them and their refusal to help with the investigation led to their suspensions.
The SWC has ratified the suspensions. The conference underscores the party’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding its constitution.”
