Chelsea manager Maresca explains why his team played to a draw with Qarabag FK in the UCL

In light of Wednesday’s Champions League 2-2 tie with Qarabag FK, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an explanation for his team’s performance.

In the 16th minute, Estevao Willian put Maresca ahead. However, Qarabag scored twice in the last ten minutes to take the lead.

Alejandro Garnacho scored for the west London club to tie the game in the second half.

In the interview that followed the game, Maresca conceded that his team lacked the clinical touch necessary to score goals. He elaborated by saying that Chelsea had a good start but were penalised by the hosts because they couldn’t keep up their good play.

“Our intention is always to implement the best plan with the players,” Maresca stated.
We got off to a good start and scored first, but we let two goals slip through our fingers today, the first of which came while they were down to 10 players.
“We can sidestep both objectives. We have to be more methodical when we’re in their box.
