Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), recalled Thursday how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was attempted to be destroyed under the previous government of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Wike revealed that Ali Modu Sheriff, a former governor of Borno State, and Buhari’s administration attempted to dismantle the PDP, but he and others refused.
In response to allegations that he is being used by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to dismantle the PDP, he made this revelation.

“Let me just tell you this,” Wike remarked during his monthly media meeting in Abuja. Nothing the government did during Buhari’s tenure in office caused the PDP to disperse.
We remained steadfast even though Ali Modu Sheriff was being utilised to disperse the PDP at the time. As you can plainly see, they also made sure the celebration was robust.
Now, you are the one destroying your party on your own; no government is even making an effort to put it down.
Wike also revealed that he faced threats while serving as governor, but he refused to back down.
“Who is after whom? We were governors. As governor, I faced a serious danger. I would have said, “Let me go and enjoy to save my head,” based just on that, he continued.
