The governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has announced that his administration has terminated all bogus bank accounts held by government agencies and ministries.
He added that the Treasury Single Account (TSA) he established allowed for the discovery of these accounts from the beginning of his administration and that it led to the removal of “ghost workers” from payroll.
The announcement was made by Governor Otti during his speech at the 2025 Ngwa Convention in St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

On behalf of the Governor, Chief of Staff Caleb Ajagba stated that the advantages from fiscal policy have greatly aided in the regular payment of employees and pensioners, and that there has been a great deal of focus on health, education, security, and infrastructure.
To clean up payrolls by verifying employees to eradicate “ghost workers” and transitioning to digital payment methods, the Treasury Single Account was established in the early days of the administration.
The closure of numerous untraceable fake bank accounts held by MDAs across the state has led to improved administration and the redistribution of public cash, according to Otti.
He thanked the Ngwa Clan members living abroad for their work in improving Abia, but he wanted them to step it up a notch by investing domestically and working with his government to further the state’s progress.
Operation Crush, which Otti brought to the Ngwa diaspora community, he said reduced kidnappings and other violent crimes in Abia to a minimum, and as a result, Abia is now one of the safest states in Nigeria.
To make sure that the next generation doesn’t forget their heritage, he added that his administration has made it a priority to teach the Igbo language and history.
