The conviction and imprisonment of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, for terrorism has angered former Senate Minority Leader Enyinnaya Abaribe.
Abaribe stated that the result was not unexpected when speaking in Abuja on Thursday through his media adviser, Uchenna Awom.
The politician claimed that many people had long expected Kanu to receive a life sentence.

He claimed that the worries expressed by several authorities throughout Kanu’s trial demonstrated that the verdict was predictable.

Abaribe remembered previous requests that the Federal Government consider granting Kanu amnesty in accordance with previous measures given to other groups, and he added that Thursday’s ruling was predicted due to the government’s failure to take such requests into consideration.
Numerous Nigerians had noticed the disparity between amnesty initiatives in the South-South and interactions with armed groups in the North-East and North-West. Fairness and equitable treatment have become issues as a result, he said.
