Real Madrid captain Carvajal says, “I’m not going to vote” when asked about Yamal’s chances of winning the SportBallon d’Or in 2025.

Dani Carvajal, captain of Real Madrid, has spoken highly of Lamine Yamal, a star for Barcelona.

Carvajal, a national team colleague of Yamal’s, spoke highly of the young player’s meteoric climb to the top of the sport.

The Real Madrid star went on to say that the 18-year-old might be a Ballon d’Or contender in 2025.

After a breakout performance at Euro 2024, Yamal was an integral part of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona team that won all three local titles last year.

Among this year’s 30 Ballon d’Or nominees, Yamal is one.

While on vacation with the Spanish national team for the FIFA World Cup, Carvajal chatted with Cadena SER.

The question of whether Yamal has a shot at winning the Ballon d’Or this season was left unanswered by Carvajal.

Considering his young age, he has a shot of being a Ballon d’Or contender.

Finally, we must not overlook the fact that he is just 18 years old; I too was at Castilla when I was 18 years old, therefore it is quite challenging to make an impact in professional football at that age.

“Since I will not be casting a ballot, I will not grant it to any individual; I am not the captain, therefore I am exonerated.”

Lamine Yamal would make history if he were to win the Ballon d’Or in 2025. He is currently the youngest player to ever win the trophy.
