The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) report regarding the Port Harcourt International Airport incident involving the domestic carrier Air Peace is surrounded by controversy, according to XANDERTECH.
The report accused the airline’s crew members of reportedly testing positive for alcohol and narcotics.
XANDERTECH announces that NSIB has recently published its preliminary report about an incident involving Air Peace’s Boeing 737 at Port Harcourt International Airport on July 13, 2025.

The NSIB findings indicated that the Air Peace captain and first officer tested positive for ethyl, an alcohol byproduct, while the cabin crew tested positive for THC, a cannabis derivative.
Air Peace has contested the contentious findings of the NSIB.
Despite Air Peace’s assertion that it has not officially received the report implicating its crew members, the airline proceeded to present its perspective.
The airline announced on X on Friday that the First Officer, who exhibited professionalism by requesting a go-around from the captain, has been returned to active flying duties with full approval from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Likewise, Air Peace cabin crew member Victory Maduneme vowed to initiate legal action against NSIB, refuting the allegation of a positive drug test.
In further commentary on the incident, Air Peace co-pilot David Bernard stated that the captain failed to adhere to the proper landing protocol.
I informed him that, Commander, you are elevated for this method; we should commence a go-around. “He disregarded my counsel,” Bernard stated.
Concurrently, the Director General of NSIB, Alex Badeh, has affirmed the conclusions presented in the contentious study.
