Elizabeth Ativie, the factional chairman of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State, has charged Peter Obi, the party’s previous presidential candidate, with being the party’s issue.

Ativie claimed that the issue within the party was caused by the unlawfully expanded stakeholders meeting that Obi and Governor Alex Otti summoned in Umuahia, Abia State, in September 2024.

Julius Abure, a loyalist of the LP’s National Chairman, made the assertion in response to Obi’s ardent follower, Precious Oruche, also known as Mama P, attacking the National Chairman.

“We want to make it very apparent that Obi is the one who caused the issue within the Labour Party. She said that he and Dr. Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, organised the fateful and unlawfully enlarged stakeholders conference in Umuahia on September 4, 2024, with the express intent of disbanding the party’s legally established National Working Committee by unethical means.

Because Obi “lacks the competence, character, and capacity to actualise the vision of a new Nigeria,” she said, he is incapable of being a good leader.

“A leader can scarcely be considered effective if he is unable to effectively counsel or mentor his troops. Entrusting the entirety of Nigeria to such a person is much riskier, she continued.
