In honour of Nigeria’s 65th anniversary of independence, Fintiri pardons six inmates

.Six prisoners from Adamawa State’s jail facilities have been pardoned by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.

Humwashi Wonosikou, the governor’s chief press secretary, clarified that the pardon is in honour of Nigeria’s 65th anniversary of independence.

In a statement announcing the pardon on Wednesday, Wonosikou disclosed that the governor intervened on behalf of the prisoners after they showed a notable improvement in their conduct.

“In accordance with the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy and in the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as enshrined in the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s constitution, I have granted pardon to six persons who have served various jail terms and have significantly demonstrated good conduct over the years,” he quoted the governor as saying.

In addition to ordering the detainees’ immediate release, the governor has instructed the appropriate authorities to implement the decision immediately.

Among those released were Wamari Godwin, Abraham Marksunil, David Paul, Ibrahim Adamu, Usman Inuwa, and Sani Yahaya, according to Wonosikou.
