The Federal Government’s loan and grant facilities have been hailed by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council as effective means of enhancing export trade.
This was said by Mr. Anthony Ajuruchi, the coordinator of the NEPC in Imo, during an engagement event that the council hosted in Owerri on Wednesday for non-oil exporters to meet with trade-related agencies.
Imo and Nigeria’s export markets can grow and compete on a global scale, according to Ajuruchi, with the help of government agencies.

He encouraged Imo exporters to expand their enterprises by using the government’s incentives and low-interest loans.
Mr. Austin Ikeh, who is in charge of the Imo/Abia region for the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), spoke at the session and praised it as a great way to connect with people all along the value chain.
The government can assist farmers and exporters, according to Ikeh, if they work with the Nigeria Export Import Bank.
In addition, Mr Freeman Godwin, CEO of edible food exporters Belarhem Dynamic International Ventures, cited the careless handling of cargo by airlines as a key issue.
He emphasised the need for change and said that exporters should not squander their financing opportunities.
He mentioned that he had to “count my losses” on occasion due to damaged items at the warehouse caused by the airlines’ poor preservation and management practices.
