The Nigerian government has acknowledged the level of anxiety caused by the US government’s designation of the country as a country of particular concern (CPC) and President Trump’s threats of military invasion, according to the ministry of information and national orientation.
According to Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, the federal government has long been aware of the security threats posed by Boko Haram since they first emerged in 2009.
The president went on to say that the Nigerian people and administration have always been aware of the US stance on the country in relation to purported religious freedom abuses.

The Minister brought attention to the fact that Christians and Muslims alike have been affected by Nigeria’s long-standing security difficulties. He also mentioned that President Tinubu is resolute in his determination to fight and eradicate these challenges.
Regarding the security achievements of the government since May 2023, Idris stated that “Nigeria’s security agencies have neutralised more than 13,500 terrorists through sustained operations and arrested over 17,000 suspects, who are now undergoing interrogation or prosecution for various offences.”
Furthermore, the Minister informed the press in Abuja on Wednesday, “More than 9,800 victims abducted by terrorist elements, including women and children, have been rescued and reintegrated.” There were 9,800 victims in all.
To reiterate, no particular religion or ethnic community in Nigeria is immune to the threat of terrorism.
Extremism is ignorant and doesn’t care about religion, ethnicity, or class; this is true globally as well. This conflict is a direct threat to the unity and advancement of our magnificent nation as well as to every peace-loving Nigerian.
Therefore, it is based on false information or flawed statistics to claim that the Nigerian government is doing little to stop religious attacks.
Christians make up a sizable portion of Nigeria’s intelligence community and the country’s devoted military forces; they battle side by side with Muslims to root out the terrorists and other bad actors that threaten Nigeria’s sovereignty and way of life.
“Additionally, the unstable security situation in the Sahel region, which includes aggravating issues like the collapse of Libya more than ten years ago, which sent terrorists, extremists, and illegal weapons into the region, is essential to understanding Nigeria’s security challenge.
The regional aspect highlights the reason for Nigeria’s persistence in advocating for enhanced collaboration among ECOWAS, the African Union, and other foreign partners, including the US, in order to secure the Sahel and eradicate the transnational terrorism’s lifelines.
“Another problem is the economic and social aspect of the conflict in the North-Central, particularly in Plateau and Benue State, which has been worsened by desertification and climate change, which have long been a problem between farmers and herders.”
