As bandits ramp up their attacks in the area, the residents of Faruruwa and neighbouring communities in Kano State’s Shanono Local Government Area are reportedly living in constant fear.
The towns and villages of Faruruwa, Tsaure, Dan Shado, Gwauron Dutse, Furaku, Yanganau, and Unguwar Tsamiya have all been invaded by armed men who have murdered locals, abducted others, and stolen cattle.
On Saturday, Alhaji Yahaya Umar Bagobiri, who chairs the security committee for the impacted areas, issued a stark warning in Kano.

He said that “bandits are still attacking, killing, abducting people and carting away their valuables” even though there were security forces stationed in the region.
The bandits approach the Tsanyawa Local Government Area through a border route from nearby Katsina State, according to Bagobiri, who spoke through Prof. M. D. Mukhtar. He claimed that following the signing of the peace treaty with the Katsina State Government, their operations were moved to Kano.
“The bandits are still terrorising our communities,” he stated, adding, “We appreciate the deployment of security personnel by the Federal Government.” However, he did note that the exercise had not prevented the security breach.
A large number of people, according to Bagobiri, had escaped to Kano City and other, more secure locations.
“We are concerned that if the banditry is not dealt with, the terrorists will launch further attacks in other LGAs, such as Bichi, and eventually they might even reach Kano, the capital of the state,” he said.
Together with the newly appointed Service Chiefs, he pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to “re-strategize and defeat the bandits” and restore law and order.
Bagobiri urged Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to back security forces responding to the issue and work with President Tinubu.
In addition, he demanded that the governments of Kano and Katsina work together to protect the border regions through which robbers enter Kano.
