After considering Declan Rice of Arsenal, Moises Caicedo of Chelsea, and Ryan Gravenberch of Liverpool (when fit), former Reds midfielder Danny Murphy has ranked Rodri of Manchester City as the superior midfielder.
While discussing the topic of the Premier League’s top central midfielder, Murphy made this statement.
The former player gushed over Rodri, winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or, on talkSPORT.

Cicedo has been fantastic, according to Murphy.
In my opinion, the first three names that spring to mind are Gravenberch, Rice, and Caicedo. Each one has its own unique set of qualities.
Caicedo isn’t going to pull the ball out of his feet and bust apart a defence; many claim he lacks creativity.
“Gravenberch is more capable of that, and Declan is as well. All of them possess these admirable traits; they are all courageous and determined.
In my opinion, Gravenberch is the better holding midfielder right now, even though Caicedo is on a great run of form.
Compared to everyone else, Rodri is the best. Plenty of levels still to go. Throughout two or three seasons, Rodri’s level was extremely outstanding.
