Representing Cross River North, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe has denied being referred to as the “Governor of the North,” arguing that such titles are deceptive.
Although he appreciates the goodwill of supporters, the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, congressman stated in a statement that he does not wear “borrowed robes.”
He emphasised that Bassey Otu of the All Progressives Congress, or APC, is the sole governor of Cross River and the state’s constitutionally recognised head of state.

Jarigbe reiterated his commitment to Otu and asked his supporters to show the governor their respect and support as well.
He claimed that the benefits of democracy will be distributed to the populace through cooperation rather than rivalry.
He cautioned against misrepresenting his position, emphasising that respect for established authority should never be subordinated to political fervour.
He claims that he was brought up to value leadership and he firmly adheres to that value.
The senator also warned that people who exaggerate matters for political purposes are sowing the seeds of strife. He emphasised that leadership is about service and togetherness rather than competition.
He urged attention to be directed towards creating a more powerful Cross River State, saying, “At this time, we must close ranks and move forward as one people with one purpose.”
Jarigbe gave his supporters his word that he would continue to represent them in the National Assembly while showing the governor’s office the respect it deserves.
