The ruling party in Nasarawa State is in mourning following the passing of Hon. Aliyu Yakubu Barde, the Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Barde passed away on Tuesday in Lafia following a short illness, according to family sources. He will be laid to rest in his hometown of Wamba in accordance with Islamic customs.
Chief Otaru Douglas, the APC’s state secretary, confirmed the news and said that the state and party were devastated by the death of the late party chieftain.

During the government of former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, Barde served as the Interim Management Committee Chairman of Wamba Local Government Area before becoming the state’s APC Deputy Chairman.
