Members of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, elected new executives and delegates at ward congresses held throughout Kebbi State’s 21 local government areas.
Over 500 persons allegedly participated in the Saturday activity, which attracted large crowds in a number of wards, including Sauwa in the Argungu Local Government Area and Gwangwadija in the Birnin Kebbi Local Government Area.
After seeing the practice, Bello Goronyo, the chairman of the PDP in Sokoto State and the head of the Ward Congress Election Committee from the party’s national headquarters, spoke to reporters and expressed his delight with the nonviolent conduct.

Sincerely, I’m pleased with what I observed. Goronyo emphasised that the PDP remained a strong opposition force in Nigeria despite obstacles, saying, “The turnout was encouraging and it is a testament that the PDP is still accepted by the people.”
Additionally, he praised security services and INEC officials for making sure the process went smoothly, especially in regions where security is a problem.
Similarly, Sani Dododo, the party’s publicity secretary and chairman of the PDP Ward Congress in Kebbi State, stated that the strong turnout demonstrates the party’s tenacity and togetherness in the state.
“One is the Kebbi PDP. The turnout was an obvious indication of our members’ tenacity and that the party is still powerful in the state,” he said.
