After six directors from the Ministry of Defence were abducted by gunmen along the Kabba to Lokoja motorway in Kogi State, terror ensued across the Federal Civil Service.
The top officials were travelling from Lagos to Abuja for a promotion exam at the directorate level when the incident occurred on Monday, November 10, 2025.
According to reports, the assailants ambushed them, halted their vehicle, and then abducted them.

The abduction has shocked and outraged members of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), who have voiced their concerns to the Defence Ministry.
In a joint statement, ASCSN President Shehu Mohammed and Secretary-General Joshua Apebo denounced the crime and announced that rescue operations were still in progress.
Missing from their homes in Ojo, Lagos, are six women: Catherine O. Essien, Mrs. C.A. Ladoye, Mrs. J.A. Onwuzurike, Mrs. C. Helen Ezeakor, Mrs. C.A. Emeribe, and Mrs. Ngozi Ibeziakor, all of whom work at Command Day Secondary School.
Search and rescue activities have already been initiated by the Defence Ministry, according to the union.
ASCSN further voiced its disapproval of the policy of mandating that government employees travel great distances to Abuja to take exams, citing the dangers posed by insecure areas and bad road conditions.
It was the union’s strong recommendation that the Federal Civil Service Commission disperse responsibility for verifying and promoting employees.
The Defence Ministry has also sent special security teams to explore Kogi State’s woods and any other possible hiding places for the abducted officers.
To ensure the safe return of the victims, the union urged all security agencies to do all in their power and praised the Defence authorities for their prompt response.
