Claims that Ali Nuhu, the managing director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), has passed away have been denied by the organisation on social media.
Speculation began when Ifeoma Chigbo, a Facebook user, shared a video purporting to show Ali Nuhu’s death, with the added message that she hoped the rumour was untrue.
There was, however, a second post that claimed the seasoned actor and director had died in a car accident.
Brian Etuk, the NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, issued a statement Monday evening denying the allegations, calling them “false and malicious.” He also confirmed that Nuhu is “alive, well, and fully carrying out his responsibilities.”

“The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has been made aware of the fake news regarding the supposed death of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive, which is spreading on social media. The NFC would like to make it clear to the public that these reports, which include videos featuring Dr. Nuhu, are completely false and intended to cause harm,” the statement read.
Dr. Ali Nuhu was appointed to the position of Chief Executive of the National Football Council (NFC) by His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) on February 12, 2024. He is alive and well and is currently carrying out his duties in this capacity.
The NFC has issued a warning and said that action is being taken against those responsible for spreading the false information.
“No matter how harmless their intentions may have been, the serious and obvious repercussions of these uncivilised and malicious acts must be addressed if NFC is to succeed in drawing the attention of those responsible, including their sponsors,” the statement continued.
At the same time, the necessary steps have been taken to put a stop to this repulsive, harmful, and disappointing behaviour and pattern.
“NFC acknowledges and values the valid concerns voiced by members of the public, businesses, and government agencies in light of the aforementioned,” the statement continued.
