Breaking: In Kogi, bandits abduct INEC employees

Employees of the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday along Kogi State’s Aloma Road.

According to reports, the event happened when the victims—all female employees—were on an official assignment from Abuja to Anambra State in preparation for the upcoming governorship election.

The attackers were reported to have broken the car’s windscreen, stopped the highway, and fired shots at it. The gunshots did not strike any of the car’s occupants.

According to reports, INEC officials were sent to Anambra to print voter registration forms and other election-related documents in advance of the governorship election, which is set for the first week of November.

All of the passengers on the bus, including the driver and his spouse, were reportedly taken hostage by the gunman.
