With Governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s blessing, the Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSEC) has announced the hiring of 100 additional judges and magistrates to bolster the judiciary in the country.
The recruiting procedure was open and included a variety of positions, according to Hon. Adamu Usman, who made the announcement in Minna as the chairman of the NJSC’s Sub-Committee on Information.
Ten judges for the Sharia Court, thirty helpers for legal study, twenty program analysts, fifteen interpreters, and fifteen executive officials were also appointed.

After failing their promotion exams three times, four staff members from the High Court and the Sharia Court of Appeal were ordered to leave their employment, he said, in accordance with NJSC norms.

The decision was made in accordance with the NJSC laws that were put in place in 2025, according to Usman.
Usman also revealed that a committee has been formed by the NJSC to look into claims of wrongdoing by Mohammed Shaba. Shaba is said to have shared a film that was critical of the Chief Judge and the judiciary.
He said that the staff member in issue will be given a fair hearing and that an inquiry will be carried out by a four-person subcommittee.
In addition, the Sub-Committee on Information chairman announced that the NJSC has authorised retirement notices for ten employees and provided death certificates for two employees who passed away while working for the High Court and the Sharia Court of Appeal.
