Luke Shaw was criticised by Manchester United icon Roy Keane, who said the England international was “throwing in the towel” after Sunday’s loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite acquiring a few new players in the summer, Manchester United’s dismal performance from the previous season has not improved, as observers and supporters have pointed out.
They have already lost two of their first four games of the new season after losing 3-0 to Manchester City on Sunday.

Erling Haaland scored two goals in the second half to give Pep Guardiola’s team the victory, while England forward Phil Foden scored the first of the three goals in the first half.
Before setting up Foden’s goal with a cross, Doku easily sailed past Luke Shaw.
“United’s defence, the two midfielders are too square, and Luke Shaw just gives up,” Keane said on Sky Sports.
“It’s a beautiful amount of technique, but Shaw, who plays for England and has played in hundreds of games, doesn’t even get his body position right.
“It’s far too easy, it’s like he’s thrown the towel in. We are aware that individuals have been stealing from Bruno for years, but my goodness
“Shaw simply tosses the towel in.”
