The Umuaka Asa people of Abia State’s Ukwa West Local Government Area have erected a shrine as a deterrent against the theft and vandalisation of public property.
Additionally, contrary to what the Eze’s detractors have suggested, the community has stated that Eze Sunday Nwogu, the traditional ruler, had nothing to do with the selling of the transformer that the NDDC had given them.
Sampson Nwaigwe, the traditional prime minister of Umuaka Asa, responded to the accusations made against Eze Sunday Nwogu by recalling a case of criminals vandalising an electric transformer’s armoured cable and other instances of theft from his community.

The Traditional Prime Minister claims that the community built the shrine in an effort to deter future acts of destruction and theft due to an upsurge in such crimes.
Contrary to what has been reported in the media, he denied that the shrine was put there to restrict Christians’ freedom of worship.
In his remarks, Commander Nwokeukwu Damian of the Umuaka Vigilante Networking also mentioned the recovery of vandalised armoured cables and the fact that the shrine had been put in place to aid in the community’s defence against criminals.
An individual who challenged and was defeated by Eze Sunday Nwogu for the Ezeship Throne was allegedly funding disparaging allegations against the traditional ruler, according to the Umuaka Asa.
Moreover, they insisted There has never been any animosity or violation of religious freedom between Christians and members of other faiths in this town.
