Governor Zulum requests forest guards to bolster military following 63 casualties in Bama massacre

Following the tragic attack on Darajamal hamlet in Bama Local Government Area, which claimed the lives of 63 people—58 civilians and 5 soldiers—the governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, has urged the immediate deployment of freshly trained forest guards to assist the armed forces.

During his Saturday visit to the town, Zulum expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and said the killings were tragic.Our hearts go out to the people of Darajamal; last night’s tragic events took countless lives. On the subject of sadness, the governor informed reporters.

He stated that the village had only recently been relocated and that people had resumed their regular lives before the disaster befell them.

Nearly sixty civilians and five military were killed in the strike, according to the governor, who noted that the civilian casualties were greater.

The governor stressed the necessity to send out Forest Guards to fortify rural towns’ defences because the military cannot protect every vulnerable area in the state.

We need to be realistic about the fact that our current military might is insufficient to guarantee safety everywhere. There have been two batches of trained Forest Guards, so far, so good.

One of the things we need to implement right away is to send the trained guards to all the sensitive areas. Zulum stated that they will safeguard the forest and the communities within it.
