Ogun State residents now have faster and more direct access to police services thanks to a digital safety and intelligence app inaugurated by Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Adeolu Egbetokun.
The goal of the Gateway Shield app is to facilitate the reporting of occurrences, the tracking of safety trends, and the prompt intervention of residents regarding various issues.
This information was shared on Thursday by Omolola Odutola, a police spokeswoman for the Ogun State command.

According to Odutola, the program is a reflection of his steadfast dedication to bringing Nigeria’s policing system up to date through the use of technology, data utilisation, and citizen involvement. It was designed and driven by the IGP.
Gateway Shield was characterised by the IGP as “a practical expression of our resolve to make security accessible, responsive and people-centred,” as she puts it.

Accessible through the Play Store, the web, and a toll-free emergency line, the app links users to bilingual agents at the Ogun State Police Digital Centre. These agents quickly handle complaints and coordinate responses from the closest police unit.
Users can report a variety of situations, from property disputes and traffic violations to emergencies and violent crimes, and receive fast intervention. They can also follow safety trends. Trained IT officers work around the clock in a solar-powered command centre that powers everything.
