A medical emergency arose during flight on Tuesday, forcing an emergency return of a United Airlines flight from Lagos to Washington, D.C.

After more than 90 minutes in the air, the captain of Flight UA613 made a desperate plea for any medical staff on board to help a sick passenger. The plane had taken off from Lagos at around 12:10 a.m.

The pilot quickly apprised the passengers of the impending return to Lagos, emphasising that the utmost priority of the airline was the safety of its passengers.

At around 2:26 a.m., the plane touched down safely at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Medical personnel were prepared to attend to the injured passenger, who was promptly removed from the plane for necessary medical attention.

The flight was cancelled by United Airlines following the incident.

After a while, the passengers were told they would be staying at a hotel until something else was arranged.
