Burna Boy and Davido are both nominated in five categories on the list that features African artists.
The albums “5ive” by Davido and “No Sign of Weakness” by Burna Boy were both nominated for Album of the Year.
As a result of their popular songs, they were nominated for Song of the Year and Best Collaboration.
With five nominations, including Album of the Year and Best African DJ, South African DJ Maphorisa tied the two Nigerian heavyweights.

Also receiving five nominations were El Grande Toto, a Moroccan rapper whose singles “Diplomatico” and “Salgoat” were popular.
The Nigerian street-pop artist Shallipopi is on the rise and has received four nominations, two of which are for Artiste of the Year and Song of the Year.
Similarly, Diamond Platnumz of Tanzania maintained his hegemony in East Africa by receiving four nominations.
Although Tyla, a singer from South Africa, received four nominations. Song of the Year was one of three honours bestowed upon Tanzanian artist Juma Jux for his composition “Ololufe mi.”
Two other Nigerian celebrities, Rema and Ayra Starr, have received three nominations apiece.
